Sharon holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales (2015) and Master in Clinical Neuropsychology from Macquarie University (2007). She is a Lecturer within the Clinical Psychology team at the University of Newcastle, having previously held a lectureship in ageing and dementia at the University of Exeter, UK. Her research to-date has studied the impact of rare types of dementia or epilepsy on a person’s memory, language skills and wellbeing, with a focus on developing tailored interventions to improve everyday function. She is also passionate about improving dementia awareness and the general public’s knowledge of modifiable risk factors to prevent or delay the onset of dementia. Sharon has over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, and has presented her research at many major national and international conferences. She has a love of the creative arts, having dabbled in musicianship, piano, violin and the visual arts.
